Four Core Investing Principles of Moore & Shirley Financial Planning:
Goals – we help you visualize specific, measurable, accountable, realistic, and time bound goals that reflect the desires of your heart and your value system.
Balance – diversifying your assets to meet your goals. Ecclesiastes 11:2 “Divide your portion to seven, or even to eight, for you do not know what misfortune may occur on the earth”.
Costs – minimize costs so that you keep more of your money which helps reach your goals.
Discipline – having a long view while regularly reviewing and making adjustments to meet your goals. Proverbs 21:5 “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty”.
We primarily practice passive investment management. Our investment analysis is largely based on an index-oriented approach to building portfolios combining multiple asset classes. The asset classes are weighted in a manner to achieve a desired relationship between correlation, risk and return. Funds that passively capture the returns of the desired asset classes are placed in the portfolio. The funds that are used to build portfolios are typically index mutual funds or exchange traded funds. Passive investment management is characterized by low portfolio expenses, minimal trading costs and relative tax efficiency.
When a client wishes to use active management we will normally use mutual funds and ETFs with a focus on management expertise, patience and low cost.
